CHICAGO, IL (July 15, 2002) - Major Hospital; Shelbyville, Indiana has

journal of the American Hospital Association, in cooperation with
McKesson Information Solutions, Qwest Communications International, and
the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. The survey
and benchmarking study measures the nation's health care systems on

and nurses, payors, health plans and employees. This is the second, time
Major Hospital has been named to the list.
Hospitals & Health Networks worked with two leading firms-McKesson
Information Solutions and Qwest Communications International-to develop
an in-depth eight-page survey available online to every hospital in the
United States. Results from the survey were used to name the 100 Most
Wired, the 10 Most Improved and the 10 Most Wireless. More than 300
health systems responded to the survey, representing about 800
hospitals.
"This year's survey shows that Most Wired organizations continue to
commit employees and money to their info tech investments," says Alden
Solovy, executive editor of Hospitals & Health Networks. "This is
reflected in the large gaps in penetration of key technologies and the
large gaps in communicating with patients, doctors and nurses."
Winners and further analysis can be found in the July Hospitals & Health
Networks. (www.hhnmag.com) Information on connecting with suppliers can
be found in Materials Management in Health Care (www.matmanmag.com),

MAJOR HOSPITAL
LABORATORY RECEIVES ACCREDITATION BY THE
HEALTHCARE FACILITIES ACCREDITATION PROGRAM (HFAP) OF THE AMERICAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION
Shelbyville, IN - MAJOR HOSPITAL has recently earned accreditation from
the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) Healthcare Facilities
Accreditation Program (HFAP). Accreditation by HFAP demonstrates that a
health care facility has met the standards set forth by HFAP to provide
high quality care and compliance with governmental regulations.
HFAP, recognized nationally by the federal government, state
governments, insurance carriers and managed care organizations, has been
accrediting health care facilities for more than 50 years. Dedicated to
maintaining the highest standards of patient care, HFAP is one of only
two national voluntary accreditation programs with "Deeming Authority"
from the Health Care Financing Administration of the Federal Government
to accredit hospitals and their clinical laboratories.
"Major Hospital should be recognized for its commitment to providing
quality care to its community," says George A. Reuther, AOA Director for
the Division of Healthcare Facilities Accreditation. "Accreditation is
an important achievement for a laboratory and one that Major Hospital
should be proud of."
Major Hospital a Shelbyville based hospital, received accreditation
after surveyors measured the facility against a benchmark of hundreds of
recognized standards relating to each area and function of the facility.
"We are pleased to have earned accreditation by HFAP," adds Tony Lennen,
CEO. "Our facility seeks voluntary accreditation because we are
committed to providing our patients with the highest quality of care,
and being accredited by HFAP challenges us to attain that high level of
care."
